My inability to stay in one place for too long is not a new development. My transcript includes credits from 5 different colleges, (I have Commitment Issues) and I have also worked on productions associated with an additional 5 schools. So, I cheer for a lot of teams.

I got my degree at Westminster College (International Business!). While there I studied culture, human relations, computers, management, language, accounting, economics, marketing, oh…and theatre. I was lucky. I gained experience in each technical department of a show, and even got paid! I was also in a 9am Friday morning Speech class with a bunch of Nurses and Education Majors. My professor (who was also a stand up comedian) saw something in me that nobody else saw, contacted her friends, and got me a Stage Management Internship in Ohio. I didn’t ask her to do that, but at Westminster, I wasn’t just another kid paying tuition. They knew me. That internship opened doors for me that led to every single job I’ve ever had in the theatre. I will forever be grateful to Jenni Lou for giving me the confidence and guidance I needed then, and still need now. She is my professor, my mentor, and my friend.

My background is unique, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I loved the Courage Theatre, El Camino, Gore School of Business, Giovale Library, the Institute Building with the Joseph Smith Mural, and so so many wonderful people. Because, as I’ve said, it’s always about the people.

Cost for today’s celebration: $5.50
