January 13th – National Peach Melba Day

image

I haven’t done anything homemade in a while, so I decided to give it a go today.

Peach Melba is an ice cream dessert. It’s Vanilla ice cream, peaches, and raspberries. Why is there an ice cream dessert day in January? It’s freezing outside!

This is the recipe I used: Quick Peach Melba

I had to make some compromises though, because my new kitchen is pretty sparse when it comes to appliances, tools, and utensils.

  • I used canned peaches, because ya right I’d find fresh peaches in New York in January.
  • I did all the heating on the stove since I don’t have a microwave. That’s a better way anyway.
  • Finally, I didn’t strain the raspberries to get the seeds out. I don’t have a strainer or a problem with seeds.
  • Oh, and I let the ice cream melt a little bit. I don’t have an ice cream scoop.

The result was this yummy treat! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to all of the leftovers that I have. While I’m sure its probably better making everything from scratch, this was also quite tasty.

Peach Melba. What a pleasant surprise.

What’s Tomorrow?
