February 1st – National Freedom Day

Abraham Lincoln

As I went throughout my day, I thought about those who struggled and fought so hard for the freedoms that I enjoy every day. Those freedoms that I often take for granted. I always welcome a reminder of these blessings and my duty to continue to fight for freedom and equality for all people.

This day is in honor of Abraham Lincoln signing what would later become the 13th Amendment, outlawing slavery.

The quote above is from a letter that Lincoln wrote to Henry L. Pierce. (See Letter Here)

This is a timeless quote, and fitting even for today.

What’s Tomorrow?
