Um. Yum.

I was in a rehearsal from 5:00-10:00pm today. It was when I was starving at 10:30pm that I was able to pick up this greasy deliciousness. Thank goodness for Harlem.

Also, thank you Miss Sassy Pants McGee, who was waiting in line in front of me. She was giving all the workers a really hard time, but she did point out to me the best deal for fried chicken. She’s the one on the right in this photo.

When I left, she was arguing with the employee about a quarter. Her food came to $5.25 and she handed him a $5 and said, “I’ll owe you the quarter.” This is pretty normal for nyc. We all see each other every day, so paying for your food later isn’t weird. But that employee was sick of her, so he made sure to give her a hard time about it. His reluctance to hand over the chicken and her outrage that he would do such a thing over 25 cents made me smile.

I love Harlem.

What’s Tomorrow?

July 7th
