The Sisters stopped by today and we all celebrated Taffy Day.
Salt water taffy reminds me of parades. I always enjoy collecting candy at parades, even though it isn’t the greatest ever.
I went with my sister and her friend’s family to a parade once when I was in high school. We were watching the parade and whenever candy was thrown and within reach of me I would pick it up. I let the kids scramble and collect candy in their bags, because kids love that sort of thing and I was too old for that.
Then a float came by and threw some candy. I went to reach for one that was close, then a little kid grabbed it before I could. No big deal. It wasn’t until a little while later when a little girl walked up to me and gave me half her candy. She felt bad that I wasn’t able to collect very much. How sweet is that?
So, enjoy some salt water taffy and think of simpler times.
