February 6th – National Lame Duck Day

Today I read about the term Lame Duck. I think it’s an interesting term for those politicians who have come to the end of their term.

Reading about the origins of the term was my favorite part. It was first used in the 18th century at the London Stock Exchange when a stockbroker defaulted on his debts.

In the literal sense, it refers to a duck which is unable to keep up with its flock, making it a target for predators.

This really just makes me want to start working the phrase Lame Duck into casual conversations.

What’s Tomorrow?
