March 2nd – National Read Across America Day

This is a lovely day to celebrate Dr. Seuss and the man who helped us to love reading. I remember thinking that Cat In The Hat was a long book and so much happened. I was also quite frustrated by that cat. So inconsiderate.

Still, this guy inspires with rhymes.

Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not. – The Lorax

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go. – Oh The Places You’ll Go

Isn’t it great how many lessons we can learn from kids books? Dr. Seuss gave us so many stories, characters, and situations to help kids and adults learn more about the world and ourselves. Thanks man.

Seussical The Musical is a kids musical that has brought some of these characters and stories to the stage.

This is my favorite song from that show. It’s from the story Horton Hears A Who. I like how it points out the fact that sometimes you feel like you are alone in the universe, until you find a friend and suddenly you’re not alone anymore.

I think it’s important for everyone now and then to be reminded that it’s good to be you, it’s ok to feel different, and you can do anything.

What’s Tomorrow?
