The guy was brilliant, and we don’t know nearly enough about him as we should.
I’ve been worked on a few Shakespeare plays in my day. It is when I’m hearing the script every day, seeing the actors make choices, and listening to the direction and discussions that I really understand the genius that he was. It’s amazing how beautiful and timeless his words and stories are. I won’t pretend to be a scholar on the subject, but I will say that I appreciate his work.
My favorite Shakespeare quote comes from Much Ado About Nothing. This was the first play I worked on when I moved to New York City, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Beatrice was anti Benedict for so long. When he finally expresses his love for her and asks her how she feels, she responds with this:
“I love you with so much of my heart that none is left to protest.” – Beatrice
It’s simple. I think that’s why I like it so much.
Today is also National Take A Chance Day.
“You must take your chance.” – The Merchant of Venice
I’ve been pondering on making some changes or taking a few chances with my life and career, so I thought today I would go for it. I won’t get in to detail, but today I applied to some fun jobs and took a chance. We’ll see if anything comes of it, but it felt good to try.
Trying will always be better than doing nothing.
