April 27th – National Babe Ruth Day

This was a fun one! To celebrate Babe Ruth Day, I went to a Yankees Game.

Before going to our seats, we went to the museum that is just inside Yankee Stadium. They had a lot of historical memorabilia, including The Great Bambino’s jersey, bat, and signed baseball.

I won’t pretend to be a big baseball fan. I enjoy going to games every now and then, but I don’t ever watch on TV or keep up much with the teams. Still, I was a little giddy being this close to things that were worn or used by The Sultan of Swat.

That baseball bat had notches from each time he hit a home run with it. There were 11 notches.

After that awesome experience, we then got to watch the Yankees beat the Rays 4-1. During the 7th Inning Stretch they showed a short video about Babe Ruth. They didn’t mention anything about it being Babe Ruth Day, but I’m pretending that they knew and showed the video on purpose.

It is nights like tonight when I feel so lucky to live in this town that so many of the greats also called home.

Now, let’s watch some videos. Did Babe Ruth call his home run in Center Field?

And, of course, Sandlot. “Who is she?”

What’s Tomorrow?

April 28th
