August 16th – National Tell A Joke Day

To celebrate National Tell A Joke Day, we had a little open mic night amongst the family. This fell right in between our Sunday Dinner and our Karaoke Session.

My speech class in college required me to do a stand up routine as part of our final. The point was to show that stand up is another form of persuasive speech because you are drawing someone’s attention to an issue through comedy. This was an impactful lesson to learn for me back then, and I’m grateful for it. Whether it is Ellen telling you to love yourself and be accepting or Jim Gaffigan shining light on parenting and fatherhood.

So for a few minutes we passed the mic around and told funny or silly jokes.

Here are 3 of them:

Man 1 – What does your man do for a living?

Man 2 – He’s a magician. He cuts people in half.

Man 1 – Oh, do you have any brothers and sisters?

Man 2 – Yes I have 1 half brother and 1 half sister.

What goes up and down but doesn’t move?

Stairs.

What did 0 say to 8?

Nice belt.

Do you have a favorite joke you’d like to share? I’m also open to a youtube clip from your favorite comedian. I love laughing. But who doesn’t? Laughing is so fun.

What’s Tomorrow?

August 17
