Last night I went and saw the movie Suffragette. It was inspiring to watch these women make the choice to go through hard things in order to make a difference. Because they believed it was important.
I’ve been wanting to do something to make a difference for a long time now, but today gave me the extra nudge I needed to make the first step. So I’ve officially begun the application process to become a Big Sister for a kid in NYC. There is always the chance that they’ll tell me I’m unfit to have any sort of influence over impressionable kids. I kind of doubt it though. This is New York. There are so many people who are crazier than I am.
So this may not be something huge. But it’s something.
Doing something will always be better than doing nothing.
Volunteer now. Big Brothers Big Sisters.
