“According to our research, this day was created as a day to celebrate who you are, where you have been, where you are going and who you will be thankful to when you get there.” – National Day Calendar
Have you ever read those Chicken Soup books? I remember really enjoying them when I was in high school. I just love that it is normal people telling stories that touch so many others.
That’s why I love Humans of New York so much. If you haven’t seen that, you should STOP EVERYTHING and do that right this minute. Brandon is a photographer that takes photos of New Yorkers and interviews them. Everyone has a story to tell.
I thought all day about a story or experience I could share. Only one kept coming to mind, because it’s always on my mind.
Instead of writing a whole new story, I’m going to share a Facebook status that I posted a few months ago:
Once, while I was in Vanuatu, we were walking back to the village and saw that everyone had gathered to the meeting place and was singing and dancing. Thinking that there was a ceremony or celebration that I was unaware of, I asked my companion (who was from the area) why they were doing this. She looked at me and said matter-of-factly, “because they’re happy.”
I think about this all the time.
What’s Tomorrow?
