February 22nd – National Cook a Sweet Potato Day

I decided to go with cooking some Sweet Potato fries. It seemed like a nice little snack to eat while I’m watching the Oscars.

Normally when I make fries at home I also make some fry sauce. I’m from Utah, and fry sauce is a local staple. Simply put, it’s ketchup and mayo mixed together. Depending on where you go, each restaurant has a different twist or secret ingredient. I like to add relish to mine. Now, fry sauce is my favorite condiment, but sweet potato fries have a different flavor.

I decided to do a taste test to see what condiment I like better with sweet potato fries.

Candidates

  • Yellow Mustard
  • Mayo and Barbecue Sauce
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Fry Sauce

I threw the mustard in there for fun in case it was good. It wasn’t.

Turns out that barbecue sauce and mayo was the best, but plain barbecue sauce was too strong. Fry sauce was delicious, but plain ketchup was too sweet. Interesting experiment.

Order of preference

  • Barbecue Sauce and Mayo
  • Fry Sauce
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Yellow Mustard

So. How did you spend your Sunday night?

What’s Tomorrow?

February 23
