March 12th – National Girl Scout Day

I really wanted to celebrate today by eating Girl Scout Cookies, but the closest I could get was this grasshopper shake. It was delicious.

I was a Girl Scout for about 1/2 a second when I was growing up. Sometimes I wish I’d stuck with it, but back then there were still a lot of things they focused on that I just didn’t care about. Girly things. Also, there was a lot of support in my community for boy scouts, but the girl scouts were an after thought. I was only a kid, but I felt that.

It seems like things might be better now than 20 years ago. There is a lot more focus on leadership and teamwork, and less on…being a homemaker. That’s a valuable skill, but I think you can also use leadership and teamwork in the home. You can use that anywhere.

From the Girl Scout website:

That’s cool.

The Girl Scout Mission:

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

If I ever had a daughter, I’d give her the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts. They’ve created an environment for girls to make friends, learn skills, and be part of something that teaches life lessons.

What’s Tomorrow?
