September 8th – National Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day and National Hug Your Hound Day

Today is National Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day.

“This day honors those nurses who are dedicated to provide quality nursing care for children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood disorders along with the highest standard of physical and emotional support to these most precious patients and their families.” – NationalDayCalendar.com

This, along with the fact that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness month meant today was as good a day as any to announce that I will be shaving my head to raise money for cancer research.

I will be shaving my head on September 18th, fundraising for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and donating my hair to Wigs for Kids. St. Baldrick’s focuses on research for children’s cancer, and Wigs for Kids is an Ohio based charity that gives wigs to kids free of charge.

My fundraising goal is $1,000. I know that all of us work very hard for everything we have, but if you are able, please help me reach my goal so we can further the research for children’s cancer.

If you are concerned about how your money will be used, check out the Charity Navigation Info on St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Here is my St. Baldrick’s Fundraising Page. Just click on the green Donate button to help me reach my goal. This link is also available on the left side of this page, and I’ll be including it at the bottom of my posts for the next several days.

Today is also National Hug Your Hound Day

It’s been years since I’ve been able to live in the same state and house as my Golden Retriever. His name is Logan, he’s currently living in Texas with my sister, and he’s adorable.
