January 9th – National Static Electricity Day

While this may appear to be a very fast video of water running, it’s actually a celebration of static electricity.

When I asked my friend what we should do to celebrate she said, “We could blow up balloons and run them on our heads to make our hair stand up. Oh wait….”

So we had to come up with a plan B.

We rubbed two static creating items together, in this case our hats, and put them up to running water. The result was bending water. The video is a short one, but you can see that the hat never gets wet and the water is bending due to the static electricity.
