October 8th. National Work From Home Week (5th-11th)

I don’t always work from home, but I am lucky enough to have a few gigs that allow me to. Because of this, my desk is one of the most important things in my room. The whole plan for my room revolved around where the desk would go and how functional it would be.

There are definite pros and cons to working at home.

Pros

  • No rush hour commute.
  • Working in PJs.
  • Making lunch in my own kitchen.
  • Being able to have my laundry going in the basement while you work.
  • No missing packages that are delivered during the day.

Cons

  • It’s quite lonely. I can go a whole day without interacting with anyone.
  • Less active. It’s tough for me to get any steps on my fitbit when I’m working from home.
  • All office supplies are purchased by me.
  • In the summer – no AC.

Of course the Pros outweigh the Cons for me, but it isn’t all sunshine and daisies. I am happy that I was able to get some work done today, do all of my laundry, clean my apartment, and go meet up with a friend that is in town before I went to the theatre for my show. None of that would have been possible if I had a regular 9-5 job.

So I guess I’m grateful for what I have, even though sometimes it drives me nuts.

What’s Tomorrow?
