July 12th - 4.4 Miles With Tourists, Sunset, and Lightning Bugs

This may have been one of my favorite walks so far. It was a beautiful evening, and I was walking right at sunset. Absolutely picturesque. I walked the 4.4 miles from Bryant Park at 42nd Street up to Harlem. Starting below the park meant dealing with throngs of tourists and New Yorkers, but my annoyance

Central Park was hopping as we made our way from 66th up to Harlem. I had a few new friends join in on the walk to Mordor for the first time. Welcome the new faces! The walk through Central Park this afternoon reminded me how great it is to have friends that agree with you

For the first time in this trek to Mordor, my miles have occurred outside the area of New York City. Boy was it nice to get out! To celebrate our Nation’s Independence, I went do to visit some friends in Washington DC. We had a weekend of adventures and miles and America. It was nice.

The closest I got to eating raspberry cake today were these cupcakes: I was at the wedding of a dear friend tonight. His mother spent the day making these, and they were delicious. Because I was unable to bake a cake today, I celebrated by including a recipe in my gift to the happy couple.
