January 17th – National Hot Buttered Rum Day

I was a little nervous about this day because I don’t drink alcohol and didn’t know if there was an alcohol free option. There is, and it’s yummy.

I quick google search led me to this blog and this recipe.

The Thrifty Housewife – Homemade Hot Buttered Rum Mix – Alcoholic or Non Alcoholic

This recipe teaches you how to make a “mix”. Even with making 1/4th of the recipe I’ve got enough to last me for a little bit.

I used the Vanilla Ice Cream that I have leftover from National Peach Melba Day. It isn’t very fancy. I’m sure if I were to make this recipe with fancy vanilla, it would make it even better.

So, I made the mix and added it to hot milk. Delicious! What a nice little treat to have when you come in from an icy New York Day.

I had an extremely productive day today, but I’m so glad that I do these celebrations. On some days, it is the only time I take a break from work to do something just fun. And it’s always something different and often something I’ve never done before.

What’s Tomorrow?
